The Parliament Library in the Old Town of Stockholm

The Parliament Library is open to the public and is a part of the Swedish Parliament. The literature is focus at law, political science and Parliament documents. Its purpose is to provide books and documents as decision basis for the members of the Parliament.

Info about the Parliament library in the Old Town

The Parliament Library is located at Storkyrkobrinken 7A in the Old Town (see the map below). It's open Monday-Thursday 10-18 and Friday 10-15. The Library is adopted for disabled persons and there is among other things computers that will read text at Web Sites and some documents.

The Parliament Library has more than 700 000 books, 4 000 magazines and more than 50 databases in areas as Swedish history, International politics, Government investigations, EU documents and UN documents. The Library is since 1946 one of the UN depots around the world and since 2000 an EU depot.

The Library was founded in 1851 as the Parliament Archive and up to 1884 was the scope not bigger than it fitted into one single room.
