The Parliament Bridge in the Old Town of Stockholm

The Parliament Bridge (Riksbron) is relatively new and the translation of the name has to be explained. In Swedish the Paliament is called Riksdagen. The bridge′s name is Riksbron and we have highlighted the similarities by the two names. A strict translation into English should give the name Riksbron = The Nation′s Bridge but it would not be correct since the name associates with the Parliament.

The bridge was built in 1931 to connect the long street "Drottninggatan" (the Queens street) with the Parliament buildings. This had been discussed since 1712.
